FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers: no medical jargon, no runaround.

Patients needing physical therapy can get evaluations and treatment directly from a licensed physical therapist without a doctor’s prescription or referral, with some provisions.

It depends on your insurance plan. Most plans cover some or all of the costs associated with physical therapy. We accept most insurances and we can check your benefits before your first visit.

Dress in comfortable, loose clothing that lets you move easily and doesn’t restrict circulation. Depending on your condition, your physical therapist may also recommend special shoes or a brace.

Appointments are 40 minutes. It’s generally recommended that patients attend 2–3 times per week for a minimum of 4–6 weeks to maximize results, though your therapist will give you a clearer estimate at your first appointment.

If at any time during your session you experience increased pain, let your therapist know so they can adjust the intensity or technique. Your therapist works with you to make sure treatment stays comfortable and effective.

Your physical therapist may give you specific exercises to do between visits, which helps speed up your recovery. It’s important to follow these carefully and check with your PT before starting anything new if you have questions or concerns.

Every person’s situation is unique, so the time needed to reach your goals varies. With commitment from both you and your physical therapist, you can expect to start seeing results within a few weeks.
